Children's Mental Health Glossary of Terms Drug and alcohol counseling services: The progress and implementation of a plan of action to reduce the use of alcohol and drugs. Mental health counseling services: Mental health counseling services include treating and/or counseling children and families who suffer from behaviors, actions or thoughts that negatively impact their daily lives.
Information and referral services: Individuals who provide information about available community resources. Individual, family and group counseling services: Specialized skills to assist individuals, families or groups to achieve goals by looking at problems, solutions and decision-making. Residential services: Resources and support provided to children and families who are presently living in a governmental or private institution. School services: Services specifically developed to meet the needs of the family. This process is used when more than one agency is providing services to the family; and family input and participation is important. Notice: This site is not intended as a crisis or hotline site.
