Community Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition The Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition On average, eight children have drowned each year in Southern Nevada since the year 2000. The majority of drowning victims were 4 years old or younger and the majority of the incidents occurred in a residential swimming pool. Mission The mission of the SNCDPC is to educate all citizens of the dangers backyard swimming pools pose to young children – in particular children 4-years-old or younger – in order to ensure a safe environment for Southern Nevadans of all ages. Membership Members of the Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition share a common interest in educating the public about the danger posed by backyard swimming pools and spas to small children. Our members understand the essential role that water safety awareness and education play in preventing drownings and water-related injuries. Swimming pools and spas provide an excellent source of entertainment for children of all ages. By promoting the ABC&Ds of Drowning Prevention, which are simple steps to stay safe in and around the pool, our members hope Southern Nevada will be eventually drowning free. Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition membership is open to the public. There are no membership dues associated with joining the coalition.
