The Clark County Diabetes Group (CCDG) was formed in 2004 by the health district’s Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion to help prevent diabetes and complications by providing education, resources and advocacy functions.
The CCDG is comprised of numerous community organizations, hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, businesses and individuals who integrate diabetes prevention and control efforts into the community.
Goal
To educate, prevent and manage diabetes.
Activities/Objectives
- Provide a monthly educational update to members and Listserve subscribers.
- Meet quarterly, providing guest speakers when appropriate.
- Work with the Nevada Diabetes Association to update, translate, distribute and refer people in need to the diabetes resource directory in English and Spanish.
- Provide resources and contacts to agencies and individuals to reach disparate populations in Southern Nevada.
- Educate members about advocacy efforts in Nevada.
- Provide programs and services to those currently living with diabetes to improve quality of life and self-management.
- Participate in community events and activities.
- Work collaboratively with other diabetes and obesity-related coalitions to provide diabetes resources in our community.
- Encourage patients with diabetes to get annual foot exams.
Membership
Membership is open to any person or organization with an interest in diabetes prevention. Members will be asked to fill out a membership form. PDF (125 KB)
