The Southern Nevada Health District, Office of Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion is proud to be an active member of the Community Partners for Better Health (CPBH) coalition.
CPBH’s mission is to enable and empower people of color to take responsibility for the prevention and treatment of disease.
Their objectives include:
- Create and promote public awareness and education concerning disease prevention and healthy lifestyles.
- Facilitate health-screenings and workshops on disease and health behaviors which disproportinately exist among people of color in Southern Nevada.
- Advocate for efforts that improve the quality and availability of healthcare to people of color.
- Strengthen the interaction between the consumer/patient and the healthcare providers at all levels.
- Educate healthcare providers on diversity and cultural sensitivity.
Among its growing membership, CPBH counts over fifty health service organizations, health professionals and faith based institutions that embrace its mission and support the coalition’s objectives. CPBH received its official 501c3 non-profit corporation status in 2004.
CPBH meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Health District, Human Resources Annex, 651 Shadow Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89106 in Training Room II. (The Human Resources Annex is directly behind the main Health District Building at 625 Shadow Lane).
