Just Move It is a national campaign to promote physical activity for American Indians and Alaska Natives. The program has four goals:

  • Get people thinking and talking about being more active
  • Promote the idea that physical activity is fun
  • Bring together people of all ages and physical abilities
  • Build family and community support

The Nevada Cancer Institute is implementing the Just Move It program in all of the 26 American Indian Tribes in Nevada. The Southern Nevada Health District, Office of Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion is partnering with the Nevada Cancer Institute and the Las Vegas and Moapa Paiute Tribes to implement the program in Southern Nevada.

Just Move It programs kicked off this year in Moapa and Las Vegas. Over the course of the 12-week program, participants in Moapa and Las Vegas got resources and information on physical activity and nutrition. Program organizers work to provide opportunities for participants to be physically active. Ongoing activities include aerobics, walking groups and special programs for youth.
