Community Partners Vegas Roots Community Garden The health district's Chronic Disease Prevention Program is proud to support the Vegas Roots Community Garden (formerly Tonopah Community Garden). The five-acre Vegas Roots Community Garden is located on Tonopah Drive near Washington Avenue in West Las Vegas in an area that has been classified as a ‘food desert’ or a geographic location where residents have limited access to full service grocery stores and fresh produce.
The Vegas Roots Community Garden is an important asset in the community. Not only will it continue to expand resident’s access to fresh fruit and vegetables, it provides an opportunity for urban families to garden, be active through gardening and be exposed to nature.
