Promote Foot Care for People with Diabetes

A regular foot examination can help prevent complications in people with diabetes.

The health district’s Office of Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion has created signs in English and Spanish that prompts people with diabetes to take off their shoes and socks when at the doctor’s office so that their doctor can examine their feet and/or refer them for proper follow-up care.

Signs are available in English and Spanish. Download the signs PDF (282 KB) or complete the order form to request free laminated signs for your exam rooms.

The health district received grant funds from the Nevada State Health Division’s Diabetes Prevention & Control Program through CDC grant number U32CCCU922683-05 to raise awareness of the importance for people with diabetes to have an annual foot exam. Diabetics may not be aware that an annual foot exam could prevent amputations and further complications of diabetes.
