Southern Nevada's Obesity Prevention Coalition
Officially started in 2006, Partners for a Healthy Nevada (PHN) is Southern Nevada’s Obesity Prevention Coalition. Originally formed to help ensure non-duplication of efforts, the coalition now offers networking, information sharing, and advocacy opportunities for members as well as a chance to support community projects and activities that encourage physical activity and healthy eating.
Membership is free and open to any organization or individual that has an interest in obesity prevention. General meetings are held quarterly.
Residents of Southern Nevada have a healthy weight through physical activity and healthy eating.
To promote and support members’ efforts to reduce the burden of weight-related disease through advocacy, programs and activities, which promote healthy eating and physical activity.
- Expand the coalition, build and strengthen partnerships, and provide networking/collaboration opportunities for members.
- Raise community awareness, promote and support existing programs, and encourage the creation of new, evidence-based programs that promote physical activity and healthy eating.
- Advocate for federal, state, and local policy, systems and environmental changes that supports physical activity and healthy eating.
