According to a 2003 Clark County College Tobacco Use and Attitude Survey, 80 percent of young adults (18-24) prefer to socialize in a smoke-free environment. Now more than ever, the tobacco industry is increasing their marketing efforts towards this population.
With the young adult smoking prevalence rates among the highest of any other population, the Southern Nevada Health District created the Urban Fuel young adult tobacco prevention program.
The Urban Fuel movement reaches at-risk young adults both in and out of college through outreach activities in social venues such as:
- Bars
- Nightclubs
- College campuses
- Sporting events
For more information regarding the Urban Fuel program and upcoming activities, young adults are encouraged to visit www.urbanfuel.org or call 759-1265.
