The Southern Nevada Health District’s XPOZ (pronounced expose) tobacco prevention coalition was formed in 2000 with a core group of 30 diverse youth ranging in age from 13-17. Based in Clark County, XPOZ has grown its membership to over 9,000 teens.
According to the Nevada Youth Risk Behavior Survey Report, the Clark County youth smoking has decreased from 33 percent in 1999 to 18 percent in 2005. Prior to the development of the XPOZ coalition, Clark County youth smoking rates had remained constant near the 33 to 35 percent range.
XPOZ conducts numerous youth tobacco prevention training and outreach activities and is committed to further reducing tobacco use among Clark County youth.
