Starting Out
To join the Walk Around Nevada Program fill out the new member registration form. You will be asked to create a unique username and password, which will allow you to access your account.
You will also be asked to provide your email address so we can alert you of prize drawings and notify you about other information related to the program. Your email address will remain private and will not be shared with any third parties.
Entering Steps or Miles
Once you have registered and logged into the program, you will be able to enter your miles or steps at anytime. In the "Enter Miles or Steps " box, input the date and miles or steps and click the submit button.
Walking is not the only activity you can do to participate in this program. If you don't know yow many miles you've travelled during an activity, you can use the conversion chart to convert the activities into steps.
After entering your miles/steps:
- A red line appears on the map of Nevada. This line represents how far you have walked around Nevada. As you enter more miles the line will continue to move.
- All of your entries are tracked in the Walking History, located below the Nevada map.
- As you enter miles or steps you will arrive at different destinations around the state. The red line will appear along with a brief message about the particular location or a healthy lifestyle tip.
- The total miles around Nevada is 1,442.
Signing up as a Group
After registering, you have the option to join or create a group with your friends, family or co-workers.
To join a group that already exists: In the "Join a Walking Group" box select the down arrow, scroll through the list to find the group you would like to join and click submit button.
To create a new group: Click on the "Create a new group with your family, friends or co-workers" link below the "Join a Walking Group" box. Enter the name of your group and click "Add New Group." The group only needs to be created once. Anyone who wishes to join the group will follow the instructions in the above paragraph.
Your group’s total miles will be listed in the "Join a Walking Group" section and your individual activity will be listed right above the Nevada map and in the walking history. Your individual progress is private and cannot be seen by other group members.
If you want a collective record of activity instead of individual records, an single login can be used for your group. Create a username and password and give it to everyone in your group. Group members will use that username and password to login and enter their miles or steps. The group’s total miles will then be represented on the Nevada map and the walking history. You will not need to create a walking group if you choose this method to track your group’s progress.
Program Length
